What is waterproof flooring?

Waterproof flooring is a version of luxury vinyl where the typical core of vinyl composites is replaced with a technologically advanced WPC (wood plastic composite) or SPC (stone plastic composite). There is, however, also a newer version of laminate that is now spill-proof, making it ideal for kitchens and baths where it once wasn’t recommended. Waterproof vinyl flooring

This has the same style as luxury vinyl (LVF) and, while LVF is also completely waterproof, these cores add an extra layer of moisture protection. It doesn’t matter where you live, as we all have those moments when we drop a gallon of milk or the kids leave soggy towels on the floor from their pool play. This version is engineered to be even thicker and more durable with cores that won’t peel or ripple no matter how much water the floor’s exposed to or for how long.

When something is considered water-repellent, it means that it was constructed with 100% waterproof materials, in this case, vinyl, and the cores. It is waterproof from top to bottom, meaning that it can be spilled on or submerged with only a wipe. Something can be highly water-resistant, but there’s always a possibility that water will seep through, absorb and stain.

Like all LVF, the images are inspired by nature and are true-to-life echoes of wood, stone, or tile, available in a large assortment of colors and patterns. Micro beveling and embossing give it depth, dimension, and textured features, such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, or distressed. It can be cut into planks to mimic hardwood or square, groutable pieces to look like stone or tile.

Waterproof laminate flooring

Now, this popular material can go into places where it once wasn’t possible. Like the HDF (high-density fiberboard) core, special constructions make it stable with a better foundation and the ability to resist water. Laminate is waterproof from the top, meaning that spills won’t absorb and then stain and ripple. Original laminate is still very much sought-after, so be sure to specify which version you want.
